Char Dham Route (4 Dham Pilgrimage Circuit)

There is traditional system of commencing pilgrimage to the four Shrines Chardham tour of Uttarakhand state, starting from (west to east) Yamunotri and then Gangotri, the pilgrimage to Shri Kdarnath follows Shri Badrinath. At Yamunotri and Gangotri, the pilgrims take bath in the sacred rivers andget cleansed their body and soul and then get ready for further char dham to Shri Kedarnath and Shar Badrinath The pilgrims chardham yatra travel also carry holy waters from the sources of the rivers Yamuna and Ganga to offer the Linga of Shiva at Kedarnath.

Necessary Things to Carry For Char Dham Yatra
Prepare for the chardham yatra by achieving a high level of Physical Fitness. pilgrims are advised to start at atlest a month porior to the yatra at least a 3-4km Morning/Evening walk.
pilgrims journey shall involve trekking across high mountains, facing cond winds. You must carry Woolen clothing, windcheater, raincoat, trekking shoes, woollen socks, body warmers,jacket.
Carry a water bottle, dry fruits, roasted grams/channa, toffees, chocolates, ect for use during the journey
Do not travel in the rainy season as there are a lot of landslides during that time.
Though self-managed tours happen to be economical, it is advisable for your Chardham yatra to go for a guided tour arranged by an expert local travel agent.
Carry your routine medicines, as you might find only limited and general medicine at such remote locations.
Alcohol or non vegetarian food is not permitted during Char Dham Yatra Tour.
Opening and Closing Dates of Char Dham Yatra Temples

Yamunotri Dham: (18 April 2018) The Yamunotri Temple opens on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya.Which generally falls duringthe last week of April, or first week of May.
Yamunotri temple always closeson the day of Deepawali with a brief ceremony.
Gangotri Dham: (18 April 2018) The Gangotri Shrine opens on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. Which generally falls duringthe last week of April, or first week of May.
Gangotri temple always closeson the day of Deepawali The pujaris with an array of lighted oil lamps perform the closing ceremony.
Kedarnath Dham: (29-April-2018) The opening of date of Kedarnath Temple is fixed by the pujari and temple administration at Ukhimath temple on the auspicious day of MahaShivaRatri.
Kadarnath temple closes on (Bhaiyadooj) the day after Deepawali with brief and simple ceremony.
Badrinath Dham: (30-April-2018) The opening date of Badrinath Temple is fixed on Basant Panchami by the former King of Tehri and Raj Purohit.
Badrinath temple closing day decided by Rawal on the auspicious day of Vijya Dashmi.( The Dusshera festival).Normally the temple closeson the second week of November.
